These new Lady McElroy Linen Ginghams are truly in a class of their own, primarily due to the premium stonewashing process they undergo. Unlike standard linens that can sometimes feel a bit stiff or scratchy, these fabrics are laundered with abrasive stones (like pumice) to physically break down the cellular fibres of the Linen.
This softening results in a “lived-in” feel right from the first touch, creating a supple drape and a distinctive slightly weathered texture. While this extra step adds to the production time and cost, it ensures you are working with a luxury cloth that offers immediate comfort and a sophisticated, matt-finish that only gets better with wear and further washing.
Perfect for tops, shirts, skirts, dresses and relaxed trousers, jumpsuits, soft furnishings and much more! We particularly love the idea of a co-ordinated set with barrel-leg trousers and a simple boxy top, but it would be equally at home sewn into a loose-fitting dress or an oversized shirt.

Washing Instructions: As we can’t test wash all of our fabrics we recommend cutting a small square and testing your washing conditions. If you measure your fabric before and after washing you will be able to determine whether any shrinkage has taken place. Likely washing conditions for this fabric is 30°C. We also recommend washing with a colour catcher in the fabrics first wash.
Our fabrics are sold by the quarter meter. If you wish to order 1/4 meter, enter .25 in the quantity box; to order 1/2 metre, enter .50 in the quantity box, and so on.
